Wayne has served as the director of this program since 1990 when it began as a two-week crisis referral center in Myrtle Beach. After 13 years, Wayne led the ministry through a relocation effort where 45 acres was purchased and a campus was built to house the present day program.
Wayne is a native of Alabama and earned his B. A. Degree from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, where he met his wife, Karen, and they were married in 1975. They have a son, who is in youth ministry and a daughter who works with Teen Challenge. They presently have three grandchildren with another one to arrive this year.
Wayne’s experience in youth ministry, serving as a senior pastor, starting a Christian school and day care are a few of his achievements. In the 1980’s, he worked in a clinical recovery program and also served as a high school principal in a Christian school before coming to Teen Challenge.
He and his wife are sharing in the fruit of their labor by seeing many young men get a second chance at life.
