Starting in January 2025, we are partnering with Adult & Teen Challenge (ATC) in Sandhills, NC, while remaining a financially independent facility. ATC Sandhills has a network of facilities that support one another, which enhances our overall effectiveness. Kim, the Director of Admissions, oversees all applications to the facilities and ensures students are placed in the appropriate programs based on their individual needs. This new intake process significantly frees up Pastor Jeff’s time, allowing him to focus on other program requirements.
We are now operating under a three-phase program. The first phase is a Crisis/Detox Facility (Phase 1) that enables quicker access for students while they complete their medical evaluations and get acclimated to the program. Once their medical work and admission paperwork are finalized, they will enter the Induction Phase (Phase 2). During this phase, they will be placed in one of our partner facilities that best meets their needs—our Georgetown location is designated as one of the Induction facilities. The Induction Phase lasts 3–4 months and includes daily classroom studies, chapel services, chores, and participation in church services and promotional ministry opportunities. Upon successfully completing the Induction Phase, students will transfer to the Sandhills Adult & Teen Challenge Training Center in Southern Pines, NC, for the Training Phase (Phase 3). During the final phase of the program, students will continue group therapy sessions and complete the series: Breaking Free, Preparing for Success, and Intimacy with a Purpose. They will also have regular meetings with their counselors and begin developing an exit strategy to ensure their success after leaving the program. Additionally, during the optional Internship Phase, students may have the opportunity to enroll at Sandhills Community College tuition-free to earn credits toward a certificate or degree. Those without a high school diploma will be automatically enrolled in our GED program. Phase III focuses on preparing students for life outside of Adult & Teen Challenge.

As I reflect on the past five and a half years, I am truly amazed at how God has led my family to Georgetown, SC. It feels like just yesterday that I graduated from the Sandhills Adult & Teen Challenge in NC in 2021, and a year later, I found myself stepping into the role of a Center Director in Elizabethtown, NC, and then moving on to help establish the groundbreaking Military Specialization Program (M.S.P.) for ATC in 2023.
It has been both humbling and an incredible honor to be invited by Pastor Wayne to come to South Carolina. I know how deeply committed he has been over the last 35 years. It truly feels like a privilege to continue this important work as the next Center Director here in Georgetown, SC.
My family has been warmly welcomed on the Adult & Teen Challenge of SC campus, and we are enjoying getting to know the community we now call home. I am eager to learn as much as possible. I have already met some of the local pastors and several of our supporters. We look forward to meeting more of you and building friendships.
My heartfelt desire is to honor Pastor Wayne's remarkable legacy and to build upon the foundation he has laid with such dedication and faithfulness to God. I am committed to carrying forward this vital ministry, supporting those in need with compassion and understanding.

Pastor Wayne has served as the Executive Director of ATCSC since 1990, when it began as a two-week crisis referral center in Myrtle Beach. As of July 2025, Pastor Wayne has handed his Director title over to Pastor Jeff Gautier. He isn't going anywhere, though. Pastor Wayne is enjoying slowing down, working with Pastor Jeff while focusing more on the ATCSC Public Relations portion of the program. Karen served as an Administrative Assistant to Wayne throughout their years in Teen Challenge, and as of January 2025, she is officially retired. He and his wife are now enjoying the fruit of their labor, seeing many young men get a second chance at life.

Mandy works for ATCSC being the local connection with our NC facilites working with accounting, bookkeeping, our monthly newsletter and social media. She is married to Will Anderson of Georgetown, SC. They have one daughter, Josie, who is a cosmetologist in Pawleys Island, SC.

Mrs. Esther is a student of the Word who has taken the role of teaching the students in our Induction Phase. She was raised in Horry County and has given her life to serving others. God blessed this organization when she joined our staff. She has had a very difficult couple of years in personal losses, but remains true to God's will. We love Mrs. Esther

Pastor Hiliary, a native of Georgetown, joined the Army and served in various esteemed roles around the world. His life experiences have uniquely prepared him to be a beloved teacher on campus, where he guides young men in their recovery. While in Tennessee, he became acquainted with Adult & Teen Challenge and envisioned working in such an environment. After returning to Georgetown, he started attending a church that frequently hosted Adult & Teen Challenge when they were not out on ministry events. We believe that God brought us together to fulfill his dream and to serve as an outstanding example of someone who has overcome many difficulties to achieve a position of leadership at this crucial time.

Tripp was born and raised in Browns Summit, NC. He graduated from Sandhills Adult & Teen Challenge in January 2023 and started working here in April 2025. Tripp currently handles personal studies for the students as well as assists with their counseling sessions with Higher Minds. "By far the greatest blessing I have from working here is being able to be a part of the change Christ brings about in our students." - Tripp

Ronda is from Nevada and moved to the Conway area 8 years ago with her husband, Dallas. They attend a local church where we got to know them while out doing ministry with Adult & Teen Challenge. We had a need for a Kitchen Manager/Cook and approached her about a temporary job until we could find someone permanent. It turns out, she was that someone and we kept her! What a blessing she has become to everyone here. Proud she is on our team!
Our goal at Adult & Teen Challenge of South Carolina is to help each student achieve health, freedom from addiction, and skills for the future. We do this by providing Christian Discipleship, Educational Opportunities, and Work Skill Experience.

Once the students reach 3rd Phase, educational opputunites will be available. Through Sandhills ATC partnership with Sandhills Community College, and local employers, all students receive: Career Readiness Classes, GED (if needed), and Life Skills Training (Agriculture, Commercial Landscaping, Event Operations, Carpentry Shop)

Another area we strive to develop in each student is in the area of work skills. Students participate in daily work detail as a part of the program. They not only learn a good and healthy work ethic, they are able to learn valuable work skills in the process. The program helps students develop personal discipline to help them maintain the positive momentum established in the Adult & Teen Challenge program.
